From edgy to elegant Annika Karras is truly an amazing young woman! This is a spectacular showcase of a talented high school senior who is original, artistic, beautiful, kind, and all around AWESOME!
I received a call from Katy inquiring about senior pictures for her daughter Annika. I knew right away from our phone conversation that we were going to hit it off and that this was going to be an exceptional shoot. Katy and Annika decided to book two senior sessions and… I’m SO glad they did! They decided on a Masonboro shoot and a downtown Wilmington shoot so Annika could express her artistic style.
The first shoot took place in August. We went by boat to Masonboro Island and it was a perfect day to take pictures on the serene island. The best part about that summer day is that I made two incredible friends! I can’t even begin to tell you how much fun we had taking pictures and getting to know each other.
Annika is absolutely gorgeous and when I first saw those eyes and her exotic features I knew the camera would love her.
After several phone calls, texts, and emails we put together a plan for Annika’s second shoot in downtown Wilmington in October. The most exciting part about this shoot was that Annika had her hair dyed pink! Yeeessssss!
After two and a half hours of taking pictures in downtown Wilmington it was getting dark and there was one more location that I have had my eye on for months. I knew Annika was the one to make my vision for this shoot come to life. So… in the pitch dark we headed to an old gas station. Katy was a pro at holding my big umbrella lighting and Annika as always nailed the posing even in the dark! All I have to say is….WOW!
After that we headed back to Annika’s house where I took pictures of her in her room. Katy explained Annika’s room to me as a “treasure trove” of Annika’s art. I asked Annika to tell me how this fabulous room came to be. She told me that when she was younger she wasn’t allowed to tape or put anything on her walls but one day she decided to press her luck and from that day on it grew and grew. I felt as if I was standing in a museum…I could spend hours in her room taking it all in.
Katy and Annika…y’all have been awesome to work with!!! I’m excited that you are SO much more than clients… we are now great friends! You guys are the absolute BEST!! XOXO
