Maddie Scheliga | Senior Photo Shoot

Seniors

I absolutely love this girl!

Catherine and Maddie’s Big Adventure…

Maddie’s mom, Britt, had a work commitment the day of the shoot so we decided Maddie would drive to my house and ride with me. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing Maddie three times so we’ve become great friends. Maddie arrived at my house with her incredible energy and as always, she looked stunning. We packed the car and set off for an afternoon filled with promise!

Maddie had on a gorgeous flowing dress, fantastic boots, and an awesome hat as we walked through the woods in search of the swing. After walking around awhile, we started to second guess ourselves, wondering “are we on the right trail?” But we were on a mission, refusing to give up and we were rewarded when the swing suddenly appeared before us.  Like something from a movie, it seemed to be surrounded by a magic glow and I swear we heard angels sing and a crescendo of heavenly harps…LOL. This swing in the woods is a hidden treasure, indeed. It was an overcast day, but there was just enough light shining through the branches to create a beautiful minty backdrop. Walking back to the car, we came across a fabulous fence that I just could not resist. Maddie made the comment, “I’d love to have some farm animals in my senior pictures,” and our fate was sealed. We didn’t have permission to shoot with the farm animals at this location, but…WAIT FOR IT…

We thought our afternoon would continue toward the beach that Maddie loves so much, but when I saw her gorgeous blush flowing dress I said: “Oh Maddie, I have the perfect locations for that dress!” and luckily, Maddie enjoys my spontaneous ideas and was game for an adventure, so we headed for the marsh. Her beautiful dress and her gorgeous flowing hair caught the gentle breeze, creating movement that made for incredible images. Maddie is a dancer, evidenced by the grace of her movements as she walked through the epic scenery.

At this point, we thought the photo shoot was over, but when I asked Maddie if she had worn all the outfits that she brought, she mentioned she had one more but was not worried if we didn’t have time to get to it. I asked to see it, and when she showed it to me, it was like our minds began churning together…” THE TRUCK”! We both remembered an old blue rusted truck that we had spotted on the way to the marsh. I had even commented that I needed to make friends with its owner because I knew it would make for a cool backdrop in future shoots. I told Maddie that there is no time like the present and we were off to make a new friend. I was certain that the truck’s owner would understand that my beautiful client had the perfect outfit to be photographed with their awesome truck! When we pulled up, the Register family was outside getting ready to go for an evening jog. I introduced myself and Keith was thrilled that we noticed his truck and was happy to let us use it as our stage. It became a family project when Keith moved the truck and his kids exclaimed, “let’s go get the chicks” and his wife added “I’ll get the puppy!” Can you believe it?  Maddie’s dream of posing with farm animals came true! YAY!

Every shoot with Maddie is fun, but this was a special adventure with lots of laughs, unique aesthetics, and, most importantly, amazing photographs.

Maddie, I am so proud of you and all that you have accomplished!  There is no doubt that you have an incredibly bright future ahead! Congratulations on your acceptance to Belmont University!

A special thanks to Keith Register with Wilmington Landscapes and his kind family for the use of their truck and farm animals.
